Community Health Assessment

Community Health Assessment

August 17, 2026

In 2025, the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa in Wisconsin determined that there was a need for current data on the specific health needs of the community that they serve, as well as information regarding the programs and resources available to address those needs. Bad River partnered with the Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Epidemiology Center (GLITEC) to create and disseminate a community health assessment that included questions on the following topics: Demographics, Housing status and access, Veteran status, Cultural wellness, Food insecurity, Healthcare access and quality, Mental health, Health behaviors, Environment and Safety and Health priorities. After disseminating the assessment to community members, GLITEC cleaned and analyzed response data. This report contains key findings from the community health assessment, as well as an overview of the data, the methods used to collect and analyze the data, and the raw counts and percentages from the community health assessment. For questions regarding this report, please contact Sheaffer Rafto at srafto@glitc.org
